FAQ: Check the compatibility database!!!

If you have questions regarding whether an amp is supported by our products, check the Amp Compatibility Database. We're trying hard to get this database to be as complete as possible, but it's going to take some time. If you don't see an amp listed in the database, please let me know and I'll let you know the answer (and put the answer in the database for the next customer!)

UPDATE 6/22/2026: The Amp Compatibility database didn't survive our last website migration, I'm sorry to say. Since we no longer make the cables or the products they work with, it's unlikely I'll put the work in to bring it back. If you have questions about amp and cable compatibility, please contact us at support@rjmmusic.com.

The page Amp Compatibility Database seems to be gone. I was going to check it my Fender Super Sonic 22 is supported. I found cables in Asia which are supposed to work, but I would prefer sourcing one from the EU is possible and if I am going to order one from the US, UK or Asia, then it would be great to know if it's supported. It seems to be but I have a hard time sourcing a cable or find a schematic so I could have one built.

The Super-sonic has a proprietary footswitch that makes it incompatible with most switchers, at least, not without some conversion. We used to make a cable for our Amp Gizmo, but we don't sell them anymore. You might want to ask Best-tronics (www.btpa.com) - they took over our cable work for us.

Thanks for the prompt response.

But I am a bit confused here. If the Fender Super Sonic 22 isn't compatible with your Amp Gizmo or my RG-16, then how can Best-tronics (or you in the past) build a cable for this use?

I found this used Amp Gismo-SS22 cable for sale online in Singapore and it seems to be RJM branded. Is this not a genuine RJM made cable and if it is, do you say that this cable woun't work when connecting it between a RG-16 and a Fender Super Sonic 22 (SS22)?

I would really appreciate of you could clarify, since it would be great to be able to switch off the SS22's reverb, change amp channel and bypass a delay connected via my RG-16, by pressing a button on my Mastermind LT instead of tap dancing while trying to play reasonably well. :)

That cable looks genuine. To clarify Ron's comment:

The Fender Super Sonic 22 (definitely) uses proprietary switching that the majority of MIDI switchers cannot control, including our products, unless a special cable is made. But we stopped making those custom amp cables many years ago. So, we provided Bestronics with all the information necessary to continue making and offering them. It is up to them whether they want to continue providing any of the cables or not. Since it looks like you've found one, you won't need to rely on Bestronics, but if you didn't find one, then they would be your only option.

The cable pictured was designed to work with the SS22, and should, unless it was damaged in some sort of way, rendering it useless.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks. That's good news. So my RG-16 can control my Super Sonic 22 if I have a cable which is wire just like the one you used to build. I misunderstood your previous response and I obviously didn't want to buy a cable if I couldn't use my RG-16 to control my SS22.

The cable in the picture is second hand and advertised at Reverb by someone in Singapore who hasn't responded to my questions and since I live in Sweden I would prefer to order a cable from a country in the EU and I would prefer a new cable. The other alternative was a company in Japan, how had one in their price list and buying a cable from Japan can be complicated.

Ordering one from Bestronics would be surprisingly expensive because their shipping cost is $110.51, which makes the total cost $162.88 plus FedEx customs declaration fee and Swedish 25% VAT = $223,60, which is a kind of tough for a $52,37 cable.

If could find the wiring diagram for this I could easily have one made locally at a fraction of the cost compared to sourcing one from another continent. Perhaps you could share the wiring diagram unless you are prevented to share.

Anyway, I appreciate that you confirmed that it's possible to control my SS22 from my RG-16 if I have cable wired like the ones you used to build. :)

While many of the cables we used to make were simply just cables with a connector on each end, some were very specialized and had a dongle close to one end, and inside the dongle was a microprocessor and other parts. I believe the SS22 cable was similar, so that types of cable is very hard to produce on your own without the necessary circuit board and software.

I suggest you reach out to Bestronics to have them provide you with a quote for S/H. Sometimes website shopping carts just load flat-rate S/H and they're not very realistic prices. Hopefully that is the case with this particular cable.

It's been so long since I worked with these amps that I had forgotten that the Super-sonic 22's footswitch is different than the original Super-sonic. After looking at our diagrams, the good news is that the 22's footswitch isn't as tricky as the original's. It's still going to need to be custom made, though. I've attached a diagram here.

And, I agree with Mario, you might want to talk to Best-tronics about the shipping. Fedex has a new International Connect service that's a little slower, but a lot cheaper. Maybe they could use that.

Thank you so much for the wiring diagram. Very much appreciated I have ordered the parts needed today (except for the 10k resistor) and since we have a guy at work who builds custom cables for our own use, he can easily build this for me.

Again, thank you very much. This will make it so much using my SS22 with the band.
