Help with MIDI cabling: Disaster Area Micro Clock - PBC6X - Line6 HX One

Hi guys, I'm wanting to send MIDI clock from the TRS MIDI out of Micro Clock Gen3 through the PBC6X to my 2x HX Ones then Neunaber IIllumine. I don't need to send MIDI Clock into PBC6X but needs the PBC to pass through the message. Seeing the PBC6X only have 1 port for MIDI in and out, Is there some sort cable that I can use to get this happening? PBC needs to send MIDI to my pedals as I use lots of CC and PC messages on the PBC Presets.

What is the benefit of having the clock before the PBC in the midi chain? Why not have the PBC send midi out first to the clock then to your other pedals?

You’d still need a TRS->5pin MIDI cable (probably 2, one for PBC to clock and one for clock to first pedal). But the flow then goes from PBC to clock to pedals. You’d be able to send PC messages to the clock if you use tempo presets, but even if you don’t it will align better to how the PBC is designed.

Thanks for the input. The Micro Clock only have 1 TRS port for MIDI in/out aswell.

Oh I see. I imagine you would need that TRS-> 5pin from the clock to the PBC then, and a cable to split the PBC’s midi port to both an in and an out.

They also have the multibox, which would do these conversions for you and you can just use regular TRS and 5pin cables:

Josh is right, but the link above is to the Smart Multibox. The original Multibox is the one that has TRS outputs, and it would do the job:

Page 54 of the following PBC6X manual provides information on making a MIDI Y-cable to access the MIDI IN portion of the jack.

Since you just want the PBC6X to pass the MIDI clock, turn on MIDI Merge for "In" in the MIDI Settings. You might also have to turn on Bidirectional MIDI to enable the MIDI IN capability (sorry can't remember this one).
